Key characteristics
The ENSM Nantes site has a set of simulators recreating the environment of a ship:
- A bridge simulator located in a large room with a field of vision of 210° and a lifelike command station. Three other rooms fitted with 150 ° LCD screens complete the facilities. This simulator is dedicated to navigation training in all kinds of visibility conditions and to manoeuvring.
- 1 engine simulator for training on the propulsion drive and its auxiliaries.
- The radar ARPA-ECDIS simulator works with a computer and a 40-inch screen. It is mainly used for anti-collision training ARPA-ECDIS (electronic chart display), especially in restricted visibility conditions.
- 1 VTS simulator (Vessel Traffic System)

Example of MRE applications
The navigation simulator at sea can be used for trainings that need to place learners in a situation of training in navigation and maneuvering or even in the management of machines under realistic conditions, and without taking any risk.
This may concern, for example, the crew of the maintenance and operating vessels of the MRE fields.
For example, as part of the MAREENE Master, the simulator will be used to make students aware of the specificities and navigation constraints of maintenance ships, near offshore wind farms, in order to better understand the logistics chain in which they will be work intheir professional context.
