General framework of the activity
CARENE, or Saint-Nazaire Agglomeration, is composed of 10 communes. 10 municipalities wishing to build together a future project for their territory. For an ever more supportive and sustainable territory, enterprising and open, serving its 115,000 inhabitants and 250,000 users.
The main mission of the CARÈNE is to welcome and support the establishment and development of businesses in the Saint-Nazaire agglomeration territory:
- search for land or premises
- employee reception
- help for recruitment in the framework of a partnership with employment pole, networking (public, private, associative actors)
- orientation (support for development or innovation, search for industrial partners, financing …).
Specific skills in the MRE field
Marine Renewable Energies (MRE), an emerging sector in France, represent an important employment potential for the region’s leading Saint Nazaire basin. The construction of a 12,000 m2 workshop dedicated to MRE on the shipyard in 2015 reflects the long lead taken by the region in this area.
The desire to diversify the agglomeration’s economy is also one of the strong points of the agglomeration project. This diversification requires support for innovation in traditional sectors (shipbuilding, aeronautics, mechanics, exports, etc.), support for emerging sectors such as marine renewable energies or marine bio-resources, and the implementation of the economic network through dedicated structures (competitiveness clusters, business clusters). More details in the agglomeration project 2016-2022 (download at the bottom of the page).
In the field of MRE, the CARÈNE helps you to identify fields near or alongside the docks, meeting your logistical needs and at the heart of the industrial ecosystem of Nazaire (GE, STX, GPM logistics hub EMR Nantes Saint-Nazaire, Airbus, Technocampus Smart Factory …).
CARÈNE is also one of WEAMEC’s support.
