The PWEA 2022 Conference in Serock will offer a great chance to analyse the wind industry’s past year, which turned out to be very successful despite unrelenting challenges due to the pandemic. In the recent months, breakthrough events in the energy sector have started a new chapter for the Polish zero-carbon economy.
The entry into force of the first Offshore Wind Act, creating a foundation for enormous projects in the Baltic Sea with a total capacity of 11 GW, has become a starting point for Poland to achieve its declared climate neutrality, and will help reduce the risk of capacity shortages. Another key event was the signing of the Sector Deal for offshore wind, opening prospects and possibilities for the new industry of the Polish economy.
In May, June and December 2021, auctions took place for the sale of electricity from renewables, including wind. Their results demonstrated that wind technology is still unrivalled. Due to these results, the European Commission has agreed to extend the support scheme for RES power producers until 2027, allowing for further auctions to be held in the future and ensuring safe and predictable development conditions for the industry.
The adoption of Poland’s hydrogen strategy (PSW), envisaging support programmes only for low- and zero-emission (green) hydrogen, i.e. generated from RES, is also of major importance for the renewables industry.
The wind industry is developing dynamically and celebrating its successes. The PWEA Conference in Serock on June 13-15 will be a perfect occasion to celebrate with the entire wind family. We believe that this year we will meet again in Serock, stronger with last year’s experiences, to spend time together in a productive manner.
