The Ocean Power Innovation Network (OPIN) aims to boost the ocean energy sector and its supply chains by strengthening cooperation between the various sectors (oil and gas, offshore wind, etc.) and between the countries of Northern Europe. This European ocean energy network will enable the ocean energy sector and its supply chains to benefit from the knowledge, know-how and products of other sectors, and vice versa.

WEAMEC is one of the partners in this project which includes the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (Co-ordinator), DMEC (Netherlands), Scottish Enterprise (United Kingdom), Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (United Kingdom), Sirris (Belgium) and Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Förderung. der angewandten Forschung (Germany). Our partner EMC2 facilitated the connection with the consortium during the project development.

OPIN will run for three years, from October 2018 to December 2021, with a total budget of € 2.57 million, with the support of Interreg North West Europe, which is providing €1.54 million in ERDF funding.

WEAMEC is coordinating the establishment of a EUROPEAN ocean energy network and looking to recruit an “MRE Projects Officer”

Within OPIN, WEAMEC is responsible for creating and managing a European ocean energy network of organisations which work or could work in the MRE sector.  This network will be open to SMEs, but also to associate members (research organizations, large companies, public organizations) to encourage cross-sector interaction to develop European projects and reinforce international presence.

In this context, WEAMEC is currently looking to recruit an MRE Projects Officer to take part in the definition and implementation of this network.
