Every project installing ocean energy devices in real sea conditions includes measures to monitor potential environmental impacts. But even with the results of the monitoring carried out so far, knowledge gaps exist. It is not always easy to collect real data in the marine environment, and potential changes might not be immediately visible.
Long-term monitoring is thus essential in order to make strategies and adjustments to minimise possible environmental impacts. As monitoring activities and equipment are often costly, financial support for environmental monitoring is crucial.
To date, seabed integrity, underwater noise and electromagnetic fields have received less attention in research activities. As more machines get put in the water, it is important to understand these impacts in order to assess the reality of perceived risks.
In this webinar, you will hear experts discussing environmental monitoring approaches and solutions for seabed integrity, underwater noise and electromagnetic fields.
